The Men Who Got Away With The Great Train Robbery – exclusive author event
Sixty years ago, on August 8 1963, 2.6 million was stolen from a Royal Mail train heading from Glasgow to London on the West Coast Main Line.
Over the next five years, twelve members of the sixteen-strong gang were jailed; later to become household names depicted in books, TV and film multiple times.
However, four members evaded arrest, trial and subsequent jail time.
The the police and the UK government have officially denied that anyone ‘got away with it’ and have maintained that everyone involved was arrested and put on trial in 1964.
Andrew Cook’s new book No Case to Answer shines a light on new source material, previously unpublished and not featured in any other book or TV documentary, and examines decades of evidence, allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions.
At this exclusive event at Brown Books, visitors to No Case to Answer Examined will be treated to a reading and discussion, during which Andrew will talk through his discoveries and the fascinating evidence he uncovered. There will be a chance to buy a copy of the book and also have it signed.
Join us on Thursday 10 August at 7pm.
As always, these events are free, but space is limited and you must book one ticket per person.
