Authors, illustrators and workshops to be announced this week
Luton Literature will begin announcing the full line-up from tomorrow for their first ever book festival, which will take place on Saturday 24 September at the Hat Factory Arts Centre and Luton Central Library.
The first author announcement will go live tomorrow morning on the website and through Luton Literature’s social media channels, with further announcements taking place each day.
This exciting new festival – created for local children, young people, families and adults – aims to encourage the discovery and enjoyment of books, reading, writing, illustration, and all creative ways of engaging with stories.
As part of this literary celebration, there will also be a local author and illustrator press fair curated by Clod Magazine and Utter Lutonia, and held in Luton Central Library which celebrates its 60th birthday on the day of the festival.
Luton Literature is a not-for-profit CIC, which has been set up to encourage a love of reading and creative writing at any age through a range of events, activities and initiatives, and to promote the early uptake of reading in children.
Tickets for all the author events and workshops will need to be booked in advance through the Culture Trust website and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Age guidance is also on the website.
The local author and illustrator press fair is free entry to all.
The festival is Funded by Arts Council England, with funding support from Luton Rising, Luton BID, and Flamingo Arts, and is supported by 1 Degree East, The Culture Trust, Luton Libraries and the University of Bedfordshire.
